The Title Winning Season in Review: Arsenal (H) September 17th

By: Nick | May 31st, 2007

The fifth game of the season, and already a ‘must win’ for the Gunners, which they managed. Our first dropped points of the young season. To be honest — we were quite poor. Perhaps a little tired after the midweek Champions League win over Celtic. The Guardian duly noted:

“Theirs had been an immaculate start to the season, with four successive wins, but their supporters are entitled to be alarmed by their recklessness at the first serious hurdle. They were not quite outclassed, but it was not far off, and it was disconcerting to hear Ferguson use fatigue as an excuse. If his players are tired now, what state will they be in at the end of the season?”

Thankfully this was a mere bump in the road.
