The Title Winning Season in Review: Watford (A) August 26th
By: Nick | May 25th, 2007For the third consecutive match, we would witness a small microcosm of the season for both clubs. Dogged determination by a defeated Watford, and the ability of United to produce moments of quality when it mattered. Three wins in three and ten goals scored. The Observer would begin its match report:
“There was a school of thought that the sale of Ruud van Nistelrooy to Real Madrid would leave United toothless. Evidently this has irked the squad the Dutchman left behind sufficiently for most of them to chip in with a response”.
An astute observation when you consider that twenty members of the United squad found themselves on the score sheet in all competitions by the end of the long season. The Observer indeed.
