

The Title Winning Season in Review: Bolton (A) October 28th
By: Nick | June 8th, 2007After brushing aside the challenge of Liverpool six days earlier, United traveled to meet a confident Bolton side, where they would produce probably their most impressive and simply clinical performance of the season so far. This was United in full flight, unstoppable in all probability — led by a Wayne Rooney hat-trick.
The Guardian could barely manage to hide it’s admiration:
“The Premiership’s top side are playing with such panache, with Wayne Rooney now inviting so many superlatives, that there is only one conclusion to draw - that this is a side on the point of a significant arrival”.
Going further:
“This season the figure is 23 (goals), courtesy of 10 different players and, for now, United have re-established themselves as the league’s most penetrative and entertaining side. Some of their football here was of a quality usually seen only on a computer…”
Even Bolton’s Gary Speed was left in awe:
“We could have played the greatest game we had ever played, and still not beaten them”.
