The “Other” United’s Big Game

By: Nick | November 17th, 2006

fc-united-of-manchester.jpg Being a United fan not exactly enamored with the Glazer Family - I can’t help but follow the fortunes of “phoenix club” FC United - formed in response to their acrimonious take over.

On Saturday, they’ll play the biggest match in their short history, versus local rivals Salford City in the FA Vase.

There’s little doubt that results and crowds have been very positive for the breakaway club. If I’m being honest, on my next trip home, I’d fancy a trip to go watch FC - over an expensive trek to Old Trafford. I’ve become very impressed with the passion that clearly exists for football at a level far far below the glossy Premiership.

Who knows, perhaps one day FC United will meet Manchester United in the FA Cup. Now that would be an occasion! Here’s one player who might enjoy that too.
