Solskjaer Might Not Play at Old Trafford Beyond Next Year — Yet His Spirit Will Remain For Quite Some Time

I was one of many United fans perplexed that Alan Shearer snubbed United to join his hometown club Newcastle, until it dawned on me that they’ll someday build a statue of him in that city. Something unlikely to have happened in Manchester.
Not many footballers are immortalized in metal, or indeed terrace song. United fans still joyously sing of Eric Cantona, a nod to the remarkable stamp he left at the club. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is one more whose name will fill the stadium for a long time after he has gone.
Every single Manchester United fan is grateful for the character, ability and passion he brought to the United shirt. And we’ll never forget that goal against Bayern Munich.
