Ryan Giggs — Hwyl Dda.
By: Nick | May 30th, 2007
For all of the awards, medals and plaudits Giggs has earned since his United debut on March 2nd, 1991 — he will join George Best as a United legend to have never played in a major international tournament.
So as he announced his retirement from international football today, let’s hope there were no regrets. For at the end of the day, and as a Welshman in particular, there is no finer honour than representing your country. Even more so to be its captain.
It wasn’t all smooth sailing for Giggs and Wales however, often club would come into conflict with country when a sudden injury would keep Giggs in Manchester when Wales needed him. Yet, we all appreciate all 64 times he will have worn the other red shirt.
