Ronny Gives Boo Boys More Fodder
By: Nick | December 4th, 2006
It’s unlikely Cristiano Ronaldo actually prays for an end to the constant booing he attracts once he steps on a football pitch, but if he does, they’re going unanswered. Mind you - he’s hardly doing a stellar job himself, of quieting his critics.
Ok, I’m obviously biased - but the penalty decision didn’t come across as that blatant a dive (did it?). It looked like he clearly stumbled to me. The other one was perhaps a little less clear cut - but hardly the worst thing I’ve ever seen during a game. But the Boro fans and players weren’t best pleased, and the inane booing will continue unabated.
Regardless - Ronny’s “performance” certainly helped United bag all three points, with a decent showing and excellent result at The Riverside. Job well done - now we have a six point cushion at the Premiership summit. There’s a long way to go, but point collection away from home (only two dropped so far), will certainly benefit come May.

Looks like a clear dive to me, but that is part of the sport. Ronaldo has been excellent this season and has shown his maturity by playing through the boos. I think he deserves a bit of a break from the criticism.
