Ronny Critics Give Fergie a Sour Taste
By: Nick | March 20th, 2007
After yet more cries of derision (boring) from Middlesbrough (and beyond) regarding Ronaldo’s propensity for tumbling in the box - Sir Alex Ferguson has yet again felt the need to firmly back his player.
It was a little tense at the final whistle yesterday, as cries of “cheat” were yelled from the ‘Boro bench in the general direction of Ronaldo (Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock has his own strong opinion on Boro’s in house integrity).
Surely all but the most ardent United haters have to admit that the penalty decision against Jonathan Woodgate was the correct one. I wear red tinted goggles every time I watch United - yet I’m not myopic enough to believe Ronaldo is fouled every time he goes down. But in this case, he was. End of story.
But no, we all have to endure endless debate on the issue of penalty decisions yet again. With it being relatively quiet for the international break - should we expect any different?
