Hits and Misses
By: Nick | January 3rd, 2007
While Sir Alex might not take the drastic measure to instal these savvy urinals in the United dressing rooms (in order to improve the players’ aim) — he’s clearly concerned (as am I), about the sheer number of gilt-edged chances we seem to be missing in games right now.
A quick glance at the statistics from the previous two games against Newcastle and Reading, show that we had 20 and 29 shots towards goal respectively. Yes, we scored 5 goals - but we should have put more away, and easily won both those games.
The fact is, our five losses this season have been one nil - and in all of those games, we had a steady stream of chances to win the games (the Arsenal match excepted perhaps).
Saha’s been a big culprit all season, but lately Rooney has struggled with the opportunities, a player of his “class” should bury. Hope he doesn’t “roo” those misses (sorry).
