I think you are underestimating ManUtd, Nick..they would have been shattered but Sir Alex would never ever let them get the league away…there is something in the way he motivates…

I reckon Ferdinand and Brown were better than Park - but it has to be said that Park is a big game player, he does seem to do it in the CL.

I just reckon the deflation of defeat would have made it hard for the players to refocus.

I completely agree with the Park comment. He was an absolute hero. He worked his little socks off, such a pain to play against. He’s so good at this stage in the champion’s league, you just know he’s not going to make a mistake and will give everything he’s got. I think the centre backs did have fantastic games, but I think that was a lot to do with Barca’s uninspired and predictable forward line (oooh!! Messi has the ball on the right wing - I wonder what he’s going to do with it… what’s that, he cut inside and tried to shoot on his left?!!! Surely not?!!!)

Messi pure and simple had no one riding shotgun for him that night. If you see him play for Argentina (or Barca earlier this season when the team was still motivated to play), you will notice that when Messi goes on his one of his patented runs, the striker always cuts in or breaks their pattern in such a way to give Messi an option and make the defender choose between staying with Messi or go with the striker. But Eto/Deco played like crap and allowed Man U to put 2/3 guys on Messi as they knew Eto/Deco and all would not hurt them.
