By: Nick | May 28th, 2008This is getting ridiculous.
First we had Sir Alex referencing General Franco during a verbal attack on Real Madrid’s alleged pursuit of Ronaldo.
Today, Carlos Queiroz has gone one better by referencing a dispute between Spain and Portugal over the town of Olivença — a dispute that goes back hundreds of years.
Eh?

The Christopher Columbus reference was a nice touch. “Ridiculous” is the perfect word for all of this.

Yesterday’s attack was enough I think to pacify Real..this is getting a little unclassy from United now..wow they dont seem to have a plan b if Ronaldo leaves i think…Ferguson also is going to Switzerland to meet the boy.

A clever political ploy to keep the Portuguese set-up encouraging Ronaldo to stay at United during Euro 2008. Fergie had already expressed concern about Real tapping him up during that period. So make it a national issue. Clever.
