Another Win by the Slimmest of Margins — My 2 Cents
By: Nick | October 1st, 2007
While I’m sure we’re all happy that United managed a fifth Premier League victory on Saturday, the fact that it was yet another one nil win shouldn’t be any cause for true celebration. Coupled with the fact that only Derby County have scored less in the league than us, only tempers things further. Where are the goals?! Frankly, I’m a little bewildered by the season so far.
Let’s face it — if Birmingham had any World class finishers, we wouldn’t have gotten a point against them. The defense hardly looked its most comfortable at times, yet we somehow kept another clean sheet. Some points:
1. Lookout, the can Rooney and Tevez play together are brigade are emerging.
2. Ryan Giggs has been absolutely awful all season.
3. Michael Carrick hasn’t been much better either.
4. I was impressed with Birmingham — they look a good bet to stay up.
5. Where are the goals?!!
6. If we don’t start scoring, we’re going to get battered soon.

Nick,
finally someone else is looking past the fact that giggsy is giggsy and recognises that his form is not what it used to be. No where near it in truth.
The man is a great, but he is past his prime and frankly should be warming the bench for the younger guys.
It seems to me that he plays because of who he was and not how he’s playing. A little unfair, in my view, on the likes of Nani.Anc Carrick, i am admire of the man. his passin and vission gives good old Becks a run for his money…
but, he has not been on par this season, agreed.
(with the exeption of one or two “wow” passes, in the chelsea game in particular.)
Thank goodness we have Owen to compete for Michaels spot, Fletcher simply doesnt cut it for me. Although he is useful on the bench, rather like O’Shea. My view on the Rooney-Tevez partnership is that it can work. but they need time. They look to be slowly gettin an understandin of one another. In all honesty though, Saha-Rooney is my prefered choice, if only Saha could stay fit.
A sign of true champions is a side that can play rubbish and still win. We are doing that, but it wont last forever, agreed. So lets hope those goals come soon.
Against Roma again would be great!Posted from
