United’s Reserves Just Don’t Cut the Mustard
By: Nick | February 28th, 2007
Most United fans recoil in terror at the sight of Kieran Richardson on the team sheet - let alone the names of Darren Fletcher, John O’Shea and Wes Brown on the same piece of A4. Yet Fergie stands somehow convinced in his decision to put the faith in these less capable members of United’s squad.
I’m hardly as certain myself (nor am I alone) that our reserve players are anywhere near the level they should be - especially compared to Arsenal’s second string. Despite somehow being given a three goal head start by Reading yesterday - United still almost conspired to blow it. Some of the effort (skill?) was truly poor in the second half. The ball needlessly given away on several maddening occasions.
We’re just blessed this season that we’ve avoided any serious long term injuries to key first team members - for if we had, we’d have been up the creek without the proverbial paddle some time ago.

Still, you gotta be glad that Quentin is no longer around.
Actually, I just found out that Terry Cooke is now on my local team! Between him and Beckham in the MLS this season, maybe that will be enough to convince the Nevilles and Robbie Savage to head over to the states this summer.
