Even with success we cannot pay off the debts. We’re still making huge losses.

But all the while we’re successful the debt is managable.

I am of the opinion that if we remain successful until the economy turns around, the debt will be dealt with. Unless the club suddenly starts making less money or the recession only worsens, it will be fine, though it is very troubling. I don’t blame the Glazers so much as the way football has changed, and I’d rather have owners that leave some of the soul in the club than a Roman type owner totally destroying the club’s identity.

I dislike the amount of leverage, but they should start clearing up the balance sheet especially if they end up winning CL, it would be a massive cash cow.

ManU spent a ton on Carrick and Hargreaves (18 million pounds each) and quite hefty sums on Nani and Anderson (i believe about 30 million pounds for both). This is heavy spending. They have excellent young team and perhaps 2 more players will fortify the team and they won’t need to spend so much on transfers afterwards.

The EPL worldwide brand has grown immensely, (in Canada cable companies can now charge $15/month for Setanta). No other major league can command this price. Manchester had some tougher times a few years ago, but you see ManU fans everywhere these days. Their success has ramped up fan support and product sales.

That said if they don’t pay down when times are good, ManU could end up like Leeds, …………ahhh the horror.
