Rooney Departs Training on Crutches

By: Nick | November 9th, 2007

Just when things are going fine and dandy, Rooney injures his ankle in training of all places. Hardly the best piece of news — though a quick scan of the fixture list tempers the anxiety ever so slightly:

crocked.jpg 11 Nov: Blackburn (H)
24 Nov: Bolton (A)
27 Nov: Sporting Lisbon (H)
03 Dec: Fulham (H)

07 Dec: Rooney expected to be fit again

08 Dec: Derby County (H)
12 Dec: AS Roma (A)
16 Dec: Liverpool (A)

Let’s keep our fingers crossed it’s a maximum of four weeks he’ll be out. Or, at least, that the much maligned Louis Saha can stay fit for four weeks to aid the cause.

If we apply law of averages and if Rooney NEEDS to be out of action, I say this is the best time..just after the Arsenal game and qualifying for the next round in Ch. league…not too dangerous teams coming up except maybe Blackburn..Saha not injured(!)..international break..ManU cannot get a better “break” than this….plus he’ll be fitter in the end of the season too..hopefully!

..and I personally think Ferguson was playing him too much..this lad played practically every minute of the action since coming back from injury…as far as I know..maybe one substitution in a game at the end..even ronaldo got most of the villa game off..now for a deserved break!

It does seem a fortunate time in the fixture list for this to happen. We’ve been in such an offensive groove though, I doubt Sir Alex wanted to lose the Rooney/Tevez partnership.
