It’s Hello Carlos Tevez, and Goodbye to Alan Smith

By: Nick | August 3rd, 2007

hello.jpgThe sense of relief is palpable. Because Tevez is today a United player, but mostly that the whole bizarre/complicated/cloying/odious saga of freeing him from who really knows what at West Has is over.

Surprisingly he trained with United today, so with a bit of luck he’ll find his form quickly, which should be helped by his performances in the Copa America. Should he struggle for a time, we might hear some murmurs of discontent around Old Trafford. A much publicized player transfer — brings with it lofty expectations.

On the flip side you have the much lower profile transfer of Alan Smith to Newcastle. A player who in all honesty failed to live up to most people’s expectations. Although a badly broken leg certainly didn’t help. Neither did his attempt to be the new Roy Keane. Best of luck to Smudger. Although I predict he’ll disappoint the Newcastle faithful.
