When Andorran’s Attack! — Fierce Rooney Treatment Draws Criticism
By: Nick | March 29th, 2007
I honestly debated spending the 24.95 for the pay per view to watch England yesterday - and you can bet your arse that I’m glad I came to my senses and changed my mind. From what I’ve read, seen and heard the action was dire at best.
One thing I’d have liked to have seen was the Andorran treatment of the under pressure Wayne Rooney. Apparently the part-timers were of the impression that Rooney has himself a bit of a temper - and so they poked and prodded and generally wound him up for the entire game. Or at least until Rooney inevitably got booked and was pulled with a half an hour to go (before he did something really stupid).
It seems the Andorran ‘tactics’ have been roundly criticized - and Bolton’s Fat Sam has leapt to the defense of the slightly fat Rooney. I’m sure Wayne feels a lot better now.
No doubt somewhere near Manchester, a red faced Scotsman’s complexion grew a little redder as a plumber kicked lumps out of his superstar. Plus as a United fan, the last thing we need is Rooney going postal on an Andorran defender and getting banned or hurt in someway.
I suggested that we should declare war with Belgium over their Ronaldo threats but clearly that’s nonsense. However Andorra has a population smaller than a full Old Trafford - so could probably be taken in a short and carefully planned battle.

$24.95? That’s kind of obscene. FYI,I found a site where you can buy 24-hour PPV for a max of $7.95 (24-hours of watching all the Euro stuff you want.) JumpTV. I don’t have the link on this computer, but it’s posted on my France page. (Click my name.) Also, Setanta Broadband offered it for a lot less than $24.95. Although in this particular instance it sounds like you didn’t miss much.
I’m seeing some serious Zidane characteristics in Rooney.
